Apollo 10 Lunar Module Snoopy May Have Been Found

An international group of researchers led by British astronomer Nick Howes may have found the lunar module used in the Apollo 10 mission. The spacecraft was sent on a solar orbit after the mission was complete and has since orbited the Sun. The story begins just over 50 years ago in late May, 1969. Apollo 10 astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young, and Eugene Cernan performed key maneuvers around the Moon as preparation for the eventual moon landing by Apollo 11 astronauts in July 1969. Stafford and Cernan took the lunar module (LM), nicknamed Snoopy, to just 15.6 kilometers (9.69 miles) from the surface of the Moon. The two flew the LM for several hours before returning to the command module, nicknamed Charlie Brown. Snoopy was …

Florida just banned sanctuary cities. At least 11 other states have, too

(CNN)Florida just banned sanctuary cities. And it’s not alone. “We got it done,” DeSantis told a crowd of cheering supporters. It’s the latest move by a state to take immigration matters into its own hands, particularly around a controversial question that’s become a political lightning rod: Can local governments limit their cooperation with the feds when it comes to immigration enforcement? Critics — including President Donald Trump — say local sanctuary policies endanger public safety, but his administration’s efforts to cut off federal funding to so-called sanctuary cities have been stymied so far by numerous court challenges. Supporters of sanctuary policies argue they keep communities safe by fostering trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement. Many of the largest cities …

Millennials Are ‘Sick Of Drinking’, Which Is News To Me Betches

People just loooove to report on what millennials are doing—or more accurately, what we’re not doing. We’re not going to Applebee’s, we’re not having sex, and now, apparently, we’re not drinking. Huh. That’s news to me and the 16 mimosas I had at brunch just two days ago. The reason we’re talking about this (again, even though we just did this song and dance a few months ago) is because CNN recently published an article on “sober curious” millennials entitled, “People are sick of drinking. Investors are betting on the ‘sober curious’.” Mmkay. For those of you who are wondering, “sober curious” basically means people who are thinking about drinking less or going sober. So, like, all of us on a Sunday …

FBI Releases Files From The Seventies Investigating The Existence Of Bigfoot

The article was updated on 11 June 2019 to include quotes from Prof Chris French. The FBI has released a cache of files from the seventies pertaining to Bigfoot, specifically documents describing the analysis of hair samples submitted by The Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition (BIC) in 1976. Spoiler alert: The hairs were not those of some mythical ape-like creature, but those of a deer. The cache includes correspondence between Bigfoot hunter Peter Byrne and then FBI Assistant Director Jay Cochran Jr. On a letter dated November 24, 1976, Byrne wrote: “We do not often come across hair which we are unable to identify and the hair that we have now, about 15 hairs attached to a tiny piece of skin, …

‘Bank holiday change will ruin our wedding’

‘Out the window’ The pair have booked everything from the venue to caterers, and sent out invites to friends and family. But when they were alerted to the announcement by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on Saturday, their plans went “out of the window”. “Most of our family are teachers or in the entertainment business – so the bank holiday worked out perfectly for us,” Mr Aherne said. “Now we are just sitting here wondering what we are going to do.” He explained that while they respected the wish to mark the VE Day anniversary, as both their families have a history of military service, they questioned the lack of warning. What The Hell Were These Strange “Black Hole” Clouds Looming Over London During Trump’s Visit?

As if Londoners don’t have enough weird visuals to process right now, what with endless photos of Donald Trump hanging out with the Queen, they were also treated to some apocalyptic-looking cloud formations above the capital yesterday. If you stood still and looked up (which FYI is frowned upon and will get you tutted at like you’re some kind of tourist), you would have seen these cloud formations hovering above the Houses of Parliament. Londoners brave enough to risk said tuts from fellow pedestrians stopped to snap some photos of the creepy, vortex-like formations. – – – People asked questions ranging from a measured “huh this is interesting, any cloud experts around to explain what this is?” to “what the hell is this floating over …
